Colleen’s 2019 Weekly #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge No. 147, #Poet’sChoice

WELCOME TO TANKA TUESDAY!

It’s the first of the month and you know what that means! Poets choose your own words.

It’s my favorite month of the year! HAPPY OCTOBER!

PLEASE support the other poets by visiting their blogs and leaving comments. Sharing each other’s work on social media is always nice too.

This challenge is for Haiku, Senryu, Haiga, Tanka, Haibun, Etheree, Nonet, Shadorma, and Cinquain poetry forms. Freestyle rhyming poetry is not part of this challenge. Thank you!

MAGIC & LOVE

Stand

Beneath

The north star

Feel the magic

Calling for more time

Bring back yesterday’s glow

The one who made life worthwhile

When love is kissed the morning sun

Hear music carried by the sea breeze

Stay, feel the rhythm of the universe…

I

Slip by

Shadows, dream

I slide, stumble

I cannot afford

To end this dream, death waits

I need someone to assist

To make sure that I am woken

Before I tumble into black wings

I hear no alarm bell, no voice calling

My name is silent, no one to wake me

I feel the soft velvet touch of death

Inky darkness carries my mind

Would someone bestow some light

Provide me a way out

Call back my foolish

thought of leaving

I want to

keep my

Life.

Colleen’s 2019 Weekly #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge No. 144 #SynonymsOnly

Here are the two words for this week:

“Enchant & Fly”

HERE’S THE CATCH: You can’t use the prompt words! SYNONYMS ONLY!

I

Pilot

My own dreams

Nightmares come too

They won’t be held back

My mind captivated

By the charms in this strange world

The people I greet I may meet

I feel my heart flutter try to wake

Back here in my own world they are waiting

I circle, I climb, drifting over strange worlds

Shadowed nightmares follow close behind

My heart now beats a kettle drum

I run, try to reach safety

What part of this nightmare?

Do I bring back home?

This spinning thread

Of silver

Broken

dreams

Black

Lightning

Hides behind

Murky misty

Dark storm clouds growing

Hiding like an evil twin

A powerful force throwing

Anti-matter out into space

A black shroud put the world in mourning

Clouds bubbled boiled caught in a cauldron

Bright luminous skies return new-born days

Kissed by mornings long shining fingers

Hope carried in by sweet birds’ song

ideas grow from summer sun

written under blue skies

red sails on clear seas

gold days that last

friends that stay

through days

past

Looks out

At the world

With lights shining

As if it belongs

Chairs hidden forgotten

Bicycles never ridden

Parcel placed outside just for show

Looking for all the world to belong

Hologram, a picture from the future…

Cornish Etheree…

dozmary-pool.jpg

Dozmary Pool, Cornwall

Cornish Etheree

On a long trek across wind swept Cornwall

Searching out ancient legends still told

Close to Dozemary Pool the air changed

Shifting with long held purpose

Wind stills the water’s edge

I fear a sharp pull

of legend lost

where Arthur’s

sword still

waits
