At least, that’s what it felt like!

The new medication (and all its promises) arrived early last week, and I grabbed it with both hands, eager for the relief it promised. Almost immediately, an extreme tiredness moved in and I found myself sleeping for almost 24/7. Thinking this was just the initial settling in, I continued to sleep.

By the end of the week, other nasty side effects joined in and I realised that this couldn’t be allowed to continue, not if I wanted any kind of life.

I decided to stop taking them, as some of those side effects were worrying. It took two days for me to crawl out of bed and joing the world of the living.

Today is the first time in over a week that I feel human and more like myself.

Finally conscious, I am fighting the visiting depression like a mad woman, determined not to slide any further down that particular path. Luckily, it’s not affecting the writing, at least I hope it isn’t.

So, I am now completely on my own. No help available, at least none that work! But I am still determined to do whatever I want to do, and whenever I want to do it for as long as humanly possible…

love always

Jaye 💕

so glad to be back!

  1. Yes! I’m sorry, Jaye, I’m just so relieved that I can comment again.
Okay, I would love to be able to get an uninterrupted night’s sleep again, but apparently it’s not on the cards so these days I get what sleep I can when I can. At night that often means ‘chunks’ of sleep, but as Alicia said, it’s the total that counts.
So long as I don’t look at my phone to see what time it is, I seem to be able to fall back to sleep again. Just do what you can. -hugs-

    1. Life doesn’t get any easier, Meeks… but I do what I can…💕

  2. Not alone, never alone. :)

    1. It does feel like I am alone sometimes…

      1. Hugs … lots of hugs.

        1. Thank you so much, Widds… 💕💕

  3. I have a lap timer on my iPhone. Every time I start a nap or a sleep segment (at night), I add to the total count of sleep hours for the day. It can take MANY segments, but once the total is above 7-8 hours, however interrupted, I feel more real. Yesterday’s count was 13 laps.

I do box breathing, relax, don’t worry that the previous segment might have been 20 min. I’ve been doing that for years, because that’s all I have.

The total is the key: I just keep putting myself back to bed, or down for naps during the day.

No side effects. NOT the way I’d like to get my sleep, but better than not getting enough. FWIW

    1. I never quite understood why people napped during the day, as I never felt the need. How life can change!

  4. surrounding you with love and light

    1. Thank you so much, Annette… 💕

  5. Often the side effects from medications are worse than the symptoms they are supposed to treat. Good for you for pulling yourself out. And your attitude is inspiring. Sending hugs.

  6. Medications always have side effects. Sometimes there is no choice but to take them. In your case though, it seems the side effects are worse than the problem.

    1. It seemed silly to add to my problems…
