#TANKA TUESDAY #POETRY CHALLENGE NO. 210 #SYNONYMSONLY

This week, the words for the synonyms only challenge are

PAST & PRESENT

Slow
Summer
Days are gone.
Now we have snow.
Hungry birds to feed.
small footprints left behind.
Visiting cats passing through
I have turned into Sherlock Holmes
Leaving my prints behind as I go
As I search for the abominable snowman…

Ghosts

Singing

Old stories

Some yet untold

Sat by mother’s knee

In the telling made bold

Some will fill the world with joy

While others bring evil thoughts to bear

Growing in the dark places of your mind

Take you where Lucifer regained his crown…

Don’t

Touch it

Mother said.

It cost too much

So your father said

A cup of blue and gold.

How can I tell her I know?

Down the lane they’re two a penny

His lie has become the Holy Grail

one last gift to keep mother’s spirit bright…

On

A hill

Three souls wait

Dark judgement called

One crown of sharp thorns

His mother waits below

Sound has vanished from the world

Standing close, Joseph holds the cup

Take your mother; hold her as your own

Day three gave rise to a new religion…

Seek

The light

Test yourself

Breathe the sweet air

Find where you belong

Let love into your heart

Step out of the dark, take aim

Find that one special person now

Let your dreams be bigger than before

Let love take you to old age together…

Colleen’s Weekly Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge

Today, it is Anita’s turn to try an Etheree poem…

These look complicated, but really easy once you get the hang of it.

A ten line poem, beginning with a one syllable word, and ending with  words of ten syllables. Full instructions on Colleen Chesebro’s website

Cold

Dark sound

Two ghost hands

Waiting by the

Old golden bandstand

Still, no sound to be heard

Lights and music once they played

People dancing while banging sticks

Lights out, no people dancing couples

Ghostly hands on drums sound, cold and empty…

Dark

Scary

Sinister

Terrifying

Power unearthly

Spirits are gathering

Fools think all is make believe

Welcome chills and spooky delights

But unaware of the truth behind

Unaware of danger waiting to pounce…
