I’m sure I’m not the only one who dislikes changes.

As I have grown older, I seem to hate them even more, presumably because I am happy with the way things are and see no earthly reason to change anything.

When we are young, we are more likely to welcome changes. I mean, some of them are supposed to be an improvement, aren’t they?

I used to be very annoyed at having to change habits of a lifetime, but I would grit my teeth and get on with it. These days, though, my grit seems to have toddled off, leaving me a bit helpless and annoyed.

My latest annoyance is, to be fair, all my own fault. Since becoming housebound, I have had to make some difficult choices. Some parts of my life have changed, and not for the better, in my opinion. These changes were beyond my control, leaving me with no choice at all for some of them.

Continuing to use my PC was something I wanted to do, eventually. My disability and medication have conspired against me. I refused to be thwarted, and so far, I am managing quite well. I have even gone so far as to trade in my old Windows 10 for the new 11.

Although this new PC is faster and quieter, it could be one of the worst mistakes I have ever made, and that’s saying a lot.

I always have to pay the price for my stubbornness, as I cannot do anything with it.

Some things have transferred over, thank heavens, but not everything. Fixing these things will take a while and keep me away from my writing desk, but needs must, as they say…

Yes, why do I do these things?

  1. I’m with you Jaye. I hate change – and new computers! I’ve beend dodging the Windows 11 upgrade my computer keeps wanting to cast upon me, dodging it this far. :) x

    1. Actually, its not as bad as I thought, Debby. If you are already using Win 10, they practically switch everything for you. I only had to tweak a couple of things!

      1. I’m worried about the ‘losing things part’, lol. :) xx

        1. They are quite good about that, Debby. They transfer everything, even the stuff you no longer need.

          1. You are tempting me! :)

            1. Changing to Win 10 was a lot worse!

              1. Ok, that’s inspiring. 😍

  2. You’ll get there! -hugs-

  3. It is the age old story of having to break eggs to make an omelet. Change sometimes breaks things but with effort a better result happens. Best wishes, Jaye

    1. Thanks John, I need all the good wishes I can get!

      1. Still praying for you every day.

        1. Bless your cotton socks, John… ❤️

          1. Ha ha ha

  4. I’m with you! Even worse, when the grocery store or CVS totally changes everything, I’m befuddled for months. Sigh!

    1. Things seem to change daily too, which is no help at all…

      1. True!

  5. Changing computers and operating systems is never easy, I’ve never enjoyed doing it, and change in general is something I’m never happy to do initially (my OCD plays a big part in this) but though it’s hard, I’ve also discovered that change can be a good thing, it can bring a new perspective on things and in the case of windows 11, I hated it at first but am now finding it easier to do some things than I did on windows 10. Hope things get better for you ❤️

    1. I’m sure life will get easier once everything settles down, Kitty… ❤️

  6. Once you’ve got it all worked out, it will be better. I find changing computers hard to but sometimes we just have to.

    1. Yes, it has rather been forced on us, hasn’t it? I am slowly getting there though…

      1. Yes, it is forced on us

  7. Just keep at it. It will soon become the new norm, and begin to feel familiar. I traded mine in for Windows 11 not too long ago too.

    1. I am already appreciating that it starts up instantly, and doesn’t keep stalling!
