Daily writing prompt
What skill would you like to learn?

Apart from wishing I was a techno genius, I have always wanted to be able to play the piano.

My father, bless him, who I never got meet thanks to WW2, could play like an angel, I have been told. He could also cut a mad rug, and I have this mental picture of a khaki clad soldier thumping away on a piano, his big army boots smacking out the rhythm…

In my heart, I can play like my dad. I can actually feel it. Over the years, many people have tried to teach me. I can read music and pick out a tune with my right hand, but to me, it’s not good enough… I want to be concert pianist brilliant…

    1. Does that make us sad sacks, John? I hope not, we have learned so much besides, haven’t we?

      1. I think we have. We can let the piano go. 😊

        1. There is always ‘if only’ when I listen to someone playing…

          1. But think more about the music and less if only.

            1. I do try, John. The music is sacred to me, but if only is always lurking in the background… I think this is because the piano thing is tied up with remembering my dad, who I never got to meet…

              1. I can see that too.

                1. Bitter sweet… I think that’s what I mean…

                  1. Yeah, I got it.

  2. What a beautiful dream, Jaye!

  3. I’d just like to be able to play any instrument! I admire those who can play a musical instrument so much.

  4. I have always wished I could pay the piano as well but just couldn’t get the hang of it. I also can’t type (believe me many of tried to teach me) So as a writer, the skill I wish I had was to be able to type.
