Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge #131

For the visually challenged writer, the painting is of a woman walking her dog in the park on a rainy autumn day.
Queen of the Castle
Behind the castle windows they watch
Hoping she turns, walks back
leave the path where the autumn colours melt
The wet river-like path dry under her parasol
Her tiny dog in danger of being washed away.
Wishing he had never left the warm castle walls
She didn’t bring his bone
Where will she find lunch out here in the rain
That melts everything in front of you.
For my sake, turn back
Believe him when he says he loves you
That the ghosts will not harm you
Let him place that ring on your finger
Be the queen to his King of the castle
There is a happy ever after…
