Wordle 389.png

I emerge from earth and clay, like the Golem

I wonder why the breath of life was given to me

I see men sitting around the fire

Listening to old wives’ tales, no mention of me

Their laughter tightens the chain around my form

My heart beats slowly, my thoughts fading

Waiting for my story to begin.

Breath alone is not enough to live by

My blood pulses as I rush from place to empty space

Looking for that one chance to find a home

Someone to remove the chain that holds me to emptiness…

  1. Your poem can be read on so many levels. What a clever use of a Wordle – they can be very hard to do sometimes.

  2. Those places we all go to! Lovely poem, Anita.💗

  3. Wow. I like that challenge and the seamless way you used all those words, Anita. A deeply despairing poem.
