A large moon overshadows the lighthouse The iron bridge stands testimony to time Ghosts linger, waiting for the day Someone finds their story Hidden in the lighthouse They pray for the day it is found and put into print This they believe will free their souls I remember my grandfather telling me a few of the stories I don’t believe they will find freedom in print It would condemn them further Their deeds too horrendous to spell out here They must find a different way To cross the bridge to salvation… © Anita Dawes 2021
