I braved the weather to see if anything was happening in our garden this morning, not expecting to find much. Pleasantly surprised to see that MN was already stirring!
Top of my list has to be the white Azalea. It has been trying to bloom for several months now, one of the most stubborn plants. Something always seems to happen to the flowers, but hopefully, these will endure.
This is a japanese quince that has the most divine scarlet flowers. If we don’t get the frost they keep threatening, we should get a glorious display soon…
These were a surprise. The first is a collection of Tom Thumb daffodils and I must remember to repot them later this year. Next to them is a pot of dwarf iris, bought last year for Anita as she has a passion for all iris, but the big boys will not grow in our garden…
This one is a bit of a cheat as it isn’t flowering and not new growth. I don’t know its name, I just call it black grass, but it has the most heavenly pink flowers in the summer…
This is called Bridal Bower, a glorious weeping tree that is smothered in white blooms later in the year…
This poor specimen is a purple magnolia. It is several years old, but not thriving. I will probably move it to better soil this year. I wonder why weeds thrive in my garden, when all the good plants struggle?
All of my bonsai are still sleeping, and badly waterlogged. I will be on tenterhooks, waiting to see if they all survive to wake up in the spring…
