Flights of Fancy: Sorry #Poetry

flights of fancy.jpg

Sorry

All debts are gathered along life’s way

Must be paid back before I take the long sleep

I hope my debts are not too steep

I have little left of which to give

To Mary, I say

I loved you more than words can say

I am sorry I did not marry you that day

A coward runs from what he fears

A chance to do it all again

That prayer is on my lips

That love endures and lives again

Your name on each dying breath

I am leaving now, like once before

I will be back, don’t close the door…
