I hate to say this, but I have done it again…

I always seem to suffer after most of the jobs I do, especially the ones that push me to the limit of my strength and patience.

I keep being told that I am 8o and not superwoman anymore, but it’s so hard to ignore the things I have always managed to do. Our family’s long-standing joke is that ‘the impossible jobs are always Jaye’s jobs’.

I did expect my muscles to have a bit of a moan the day after the new bed/couch arrived, but I wasn’t prepared for the pain that greeted me when I opened my eyes the following morning.

I seem to have either pulled or twisted something in my right hip, which is causing pain to course down my leg to my knee. Despite copious amounts of stretching, I can’t seem to release it.

I cannot sit, stand or lie down without this pain, and when I could feel the beginnings of muscle spasms, I knew I had really done it this time.

The thing about intense pain, it renders everything else obsolete. Thinking of any kind just isn’t happening, much to my annoyance. I am taking a hefty dose of turmeric, and some magnesium to offset the spasms. I stretch regularly, even though it hurts like hell.

Three days of this and I think I might be losing my mind, but it can’t last forever. My body will heal itself eventually.

Today, I am determined to have a normal working day, and I hope for a much better weekend!

  1. Oh my Jaye. You need to take things down a notch. I hope you’re feeling a bit better by now. :)

    1. Not really, Debby. I seem to have really done it this time…

      1. I’m sorry Jaye. :(

  2. All too often we don’t feel the pain until the next morning. I’m much like you!

  3. Sorry to hear about the pain. Hope it eases soon. Have a restful day My Friend.

  4. Bugger … ‘soon’ :D

  5. Those ‘Oh my Gawd!!!’ muscle pains are dastardly. Hope it eases doon.

    1. The pain got so bad yesterday, I ended up at the walk in Urgent Care unit at our local hospital. I really thought I had done some damage. Turns out there was nothing broken
just my arthritis going crazy. They recommend I get some strong pain patches to help me cope!

  6. Oh no, Jaye. Rest, rest and let those overused muscles relax so everything goes back into place. I imagine that it’s hard for you not to be busy and about, but take care of yourself. <3 <3 <3

    1. It’s a pity that the arthritis doesn’t know how to relax. But there are treatments that could help me, so not all doom and gloom… 💖💖

  7. I’m so sorry. I hope you feel better soon! It’s hard to realize our limitations as we age. I understand.

    1. For the first time ever, Jan, I don’t need to blame myself. OsteoArthritis takes no prisoners!

  8. Sounds like your sciatic nerve! I did a number on mine once and sit down, you may need to- it took me near two months to get over. Poor thing. I do not envy you this.

    1. I have been promised some pain patches, so maybe the suffering won’t be so bad, Violet…

      1. I sure hope you fare better than I did. Half the reason I was in pain so long, was they wouldn’t give me anything! This was back in like 2011-12 and I guess that’s when they cracked down on the doctors for handing out pain meds like candy. I finally went to the ER and got some pain meds, that made it tolerable.

        1. I hope I get some relief soon, Violet as I am going out of my mind…

          1. I know exactly about which you speak, and hope your relief is quick in coming.

            1. Me too, seeing another doctor tomorrow, so hoping for a miracle, Violet…

              1. I’ll be hoping they give you something for it. That’s what got me through it.

  9. Ouch, this doesn’t sound like any kind of fun at all… Peace be with you.

    1. Arthritis was the problem, Annette. I have been promised some help with it, so the future is looking better!

  10. I hate it when people say ‘You’re 80, what do you expect?’ It’s not inevitable that people suffer in old age.

But what you are experiencing sounds a bit like sciatica to me. I had it a few years ago and it’s excruciating. I suggest you go to the doctor to get a diagnosis.

I went to a chiropractor and he was wonderful. He manipulated me and gave me exercises.

Sciatica is caused by the sciatica nerve becoming trapped in the vertebrae of the lower back, sending pain along the sciatic nerve and down the leg.

Mind you, I’m not a doctor, so I don’t really know. So that’s why you should get a proper diagnosis.

    1. I did, Vivienne. Turns out to be my arthritis going crazy. Doc has promised me some pain patches, so the future looks better already…

      1. Good. I’m glad you got a diagnosis. All improving from now on.

  11. Time for a cup of tea and relaxation:)

    1. and some pain patches for the arthritis, which will be very welcome… 💖

  12. Don’t you wish the little voice would stop us BEFORE the muscles shout? Tell them to quiet down, and I hope you’ll have a good weekend, too!

    1. Actually, I did hear the voice of reason before I started, but when did that ever stop me from doing anything?

  13. Sorry to hear about your misadvantages with the new bed. I hope you will feel better soon. 80 isn’t an age, it’s only a number. ;-) The 8 rotated to left or right stands for infinity! :-) Have also a wonderful weekend! xx Michael
