What details of your life could you pay more attention to?

Daily writing prompt
What details of your life could you pay more attention to?

Sadly, I didn’t have to think too hard about this, and this answer is me.

I seem to be at the bottom of every to-do list, and to be honest, I don’t find myself there very often either.

I worry about everything, the bills, the family, the housework, the gardening, the future, my latest writing, but I hardly ever give myself a thought. And I really should, for at 80, I have more problems than a Tory government!

I watch my diet and do some gentle yoga, but none of this is a conscious thing, just two more things that must be done every day.

Thinking about what details I could pay more attention to, reminds me that I still haven’t managed to visit the sea this year. Plans have been made so often, but something always manages to get in the way. Could I have made more of a fuss, or jumped on a train myself?

Maybe I should, and that is definitely something to think about…

  1. Great post!

  2. Well said, and I think you already know how to think about this. The ocean awaits you. 😍

    1. That visit to the sea was disappointing, Jennie, so near and yet so far…

      1. I understand!

  3. I’ll be praying for you to make it to the sea this year…or soon, Jump on a train yourself and have an adventure if you’re feeling up to it! God bless.

    1. I sometimes wish I wasn’t so old, as my family are very protective and don’t let me out of their sight… but I did get to see the sea this week…

      1. I am so happy for you that you made it to the sea! God put healing in the waters. Just looking and experiencing the majesty is wonderful medicine. God bless.

        1. It was much better than not seeing it, anyway…

  4. I look after a lot of people too, but I’ve made it a priority to do something for myself every day. For me, that something is usually a ‘game’ online. Nothing special, but it is ‘me time’. Keeps me sane.

Go visit the ocean. Walk on the sand, buy an ice cream, throw bread to the sea gulls. Give yourself /permission/ to just…be.

  5. Ha, an adventure of one’s own! … Go for it! :D

    1. Looking after me is something I have never had much time for, so it is an adventure, Widds. 💖

  6. As we get closer to the next adventure it is time to think about finishing this one in grand style. Yeah, jump on a train.

    1. You know something, one of these days I might just do that. Trouble is, it would be a one way ticket, John…

      1. That would be the temptation for sure.

  7. I live by the ocean but not a sea. The closest sea would be the Salish sea over by Vancouver.

When the ocean roars, the birds soar.

    1. That is a lovely quote, and my heart soars too… Right now, I would be happy with a large puddle!

  8. We do tend to put ourselves last, don’t we? I’m working on that.

    1. Me too, Jan. It is time, I think…

  9. peace be with you

    1. And to you, Annette…💖

  10. I also wanted to visit the sea this year but couldn’t but I’ll try next year January. I rarely watch what I eat, just eat small portions of what’s there, I at-least workout twice a week and do lots of long walks, I rarely read as I used to, or write either. I think I should re-visit those two

    1. Yopu seem to be doing okay, I wish I was as careful…

  11. Make time to visit the seaside… it’s very soothing out of season.

    1. Don’t I know it, Stevie. I have been dropping hints all year, but haven’t quite given up hope yet!

  12. At this moment in time I am content:)

    1. That’s wonderful, Janet. Not many of us can say that…
