Our local church
Had been filled with candlelight
The carpets cleaned; flowers arranged
The Madonna’s tears flowing
Kneeling at the altar,
trying to remember how to pray
Hard, when the wheels have come off your life
Is it the divine, trying to touch the living?
As I left the church, I felt the land shift
Somehow a line had been broken
I was down on my knees
I now know it is never too late
To remember a good prayer…
