Does anyone know what this is?
I found it on a walkabout around our town. It is a tree, and those beautiful flowers have the most amazing perfume…

I’m not sure if you ever solved this mystery… I grew up with dogwoods (which were small trees), and that’s not a variety I’ve ever seen. They have little black “point” things at the outer edge of each petal.
The buds remind me of a tulip poplar tree, but I don’t remember what the blossoms look like up close. Maybe some variety of that?
Regardless, it’s gorgeous. Hugs on the wing.-
Turned out to be from the Myrtle genus, quite unusual but so lovely…

Dogwood, for me. One of the original genus.

I thought Dogwood was more of a shrub than a tree, but I am going to get to the bottom of this mystery…

Someone else suggested that too, I wonder if it is? Do we have Dogwood over here in UK?

No idea. I came across them in OZ, and they’re certainly all over the place here in Canada, so no reason why they shouldn’t be there as well. :D
