Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie

Lovers by Harry Hollard, 1982

I brought this sketchy black and white print at a boot sale.
Hung it on my bedroom wall.
Hoping I would find a partner soon.
Be careful what you wish for
For I got more than I bargained for
Each night he would come, turning my nights
into a wild dance of love
Try as I might, I could not hold on to him until morning.
The space beside me remains empty…

  1. This brought back a memory about a movie I’d seen called The Entity. Was that the inspiration? Also, I think you probably meant “bought” and not “brought” in the first line?

    1. Probably both, Susi! and no, the Entity was not in Anita’s mind, it was purely the sketch…

      1. Very cool! The sketch is amazing too.

  2. Black and white mirage
    I love this poetic nights
    Full of entourage >-I

  3. A ghost or a paramour? I love the openness of the interpretation. Though a sad poem. Well done, Anita.

    1. Anita is not saying… she says somethings are best wondered about!

  4. What a lovely post…

    1. Thank you, Steve…
