I can feel autumn out there, she is waiting, holding her breath.

I love autumn—that crispness in the air, the pungent smell of leaves as they wait for the signal to start falling. Some people don’t care for the reminder that another year is nearly over, but to me, Autumn is a precious reminder that we are part of a never-ending cycle, one that will continue long after I am gone.

Kind of reassuring, and heaven knows we don’t get much of that, these days do we?

Acorns symbolise Autumn for me, and this poem by Anita, sums everything up for me…

  3. Raking leaves – not until every on of the little bastards are down on the ground, otherwise there’ll always be one that will slip down the back of your neck, all itchy and probably a host for all sorts of other itchy bastards! … and that’s my excuse for putting it off until the last minute – about an hour before the first snowfall :D

    1. Perfect timing, Widds. I just wait for some wind to blow them all next door!

  4. A lovely poem. Yes I rake leaves. We get two leaf seasons. The first is with the trees that drop leaves in the fall. Then the live oaks drop their leaves I the spring. All in all a ton of leaves.

    1. We always seem to get a strong breeze in autumn, so now I don’t bother raking…
