This post is in addition to yesterday’s post about my 80th birthday surprise (you can read it HERE) I had to do it like this because I was due to attend a special birthday party for me and time was short.
I have been spoiled rotten on this birthday and loved every minute…

When I realised I was in Portsmouth, I was distracted by the sound of a Hovercraft coming in to land. The sea was mysteriously misty that morning, making everything seem like a fairy tale. I love to watch these huge craft, so for a moment I forgot all about my surprise.

I had to tear myself away, and as I turned around, I realised that my family were standing outside the Hovercraft booking office. That was when the penny dropped and I realised I wouldn’t be visiting the Historic Boatyard, or seeing the Cutty Sark.

Walking into the waiting room was a little surreal. Nothing seemed real and I wanted to pinch myself to see if I was dreaming…

I kept looking out of the window, to the Hovercraft I had watched come in, knowing it was waiting for me.

The trip across The Solent to the Isle of Wight was amazing, and the return trip later that day was even better. This is me, grinning like The Cheshire Cat, not really wanting to go home…
