Day 7 and the final day of Cathy’s yearly ‘A Week of Flowers’ challenge. It’s been a lovely way to brighten up this first week of December, showcasing the wonderfully colourful blooms of summer.

You can find Cathy’s Post here.

I couldn’t find another special flower for this last day, as I have already shown the best ones.

My garden ( I use this term reservedly) is not large, and it’s a constant battle keeping the mare’s tails and brambles under control so I can at least try to be a gardener. But there have been moderate successes this year and I am proud to add them to this last day of The Week of Flowers.

I am no good with names, this was a very pretty rocky plant that surprised me with this lovely flower…

One of my early efforts at growing a dahlia. I was so was proud of this one…

This is a cutting of an orange blossom. It’s just a twig, and I never expected to see a flower so soon…

This seems to be a dahlia, but not sure where it came from… but it’s most welcome!

I believe this is a sambuca. I fell in love with the black foliage and dainty flowers. Hopefully, it will grow and be wonderful!

I just found this stunning camelia… It’s not a healthy specimen, as you can see from the black spots on the leaves, but the flowers are just heavenly…

I really cannot wait to start messing about in the garden again…

  1. They are all beautiful, Jaye. I like the Dalia and the Camellia. Every time I tried to grow Camellias the blooms dropped off. They were heavenly while there though.

    1. That’s the thing with camelias, lovely, but fragile… and I think they bloom too early, they would probably last longer if they waited…

      1. So true.

The flower of your rocky plant looks like a Sempervivum, commonly known as hens and chicks or house leek, although both those names are applied to other succulent plants as well. While my dry climate generally favors succulents, Sempervivum is unfortunately one of the exceptions, which is too bad as I love its flowers.

    1. I didn’t know they flowered, so I was delighted!

  3. A lovely collection from your garden! And I know what you mean about being impatient to be out there again… but let’s hope winter flies by as quickly as this week has! Thank you so much for joining in, and remember the date for next year! 😉🤗

  4. Agh, don’t think my comment posted, Love the Dahlia.

    1. There will be more dahlias next year!

  5. You’ve dome a brilliant job, that Dahlia is special.

    1. I love the colour…

  6. Beautiful! Gardens are a place where the soul comes to rest. It matters not what grows there or how, it shares its miracles freely, and renews us in the process. 💕

    1. Gardens are sacred places, Eliza…

  7. These are all so beautiful but those first pink ones are just so lovely.

    1. They were a lovely surprise too!
