Cold air hit my body like a bruise
I heard the groan leave my lips
Awful sound
Watching a young man
Pull the hood of his anorak tight
I wished I had worn a warm coat
My check shirt too thin for this weather
As if I were under a curse
The heavens bring on the rain
I turn the corner, see the fire
My heart skips a beat, my house
I look again, after blinking several times
My mind fits the puzzle together
Two firemen struggle to hold the hose
Am I the nebbish person on the planet?
Why did luck never visit my life…?
