Read of the Week! Dead Dry Heart ~ @piketoni1 Pike #Political Fiction #Review

I almost didn’t read this book, as politics usually leave me cold. A psychological thriller, however, is right up my street so I bought a copy. So glad I did, for I almost read it in one sitting…

A psychological thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat!

Tyler Thompson is Australia’s young, brilliant, and charismatic Prime Minister, riding high on a wave of popularity. But the past has come back to haunt him and there is a shocking secret from his childhood that he will do almost anything to conceal.

The one man who knows what happened twenty-five years ago is back – and he is hellbent on revenge. Tyler’s precious wife and baby have disappeared, and their safe return will cost him everything: family, career and freedom.

But even that may not be enough to satisfy his nemesis – and the truth may be more terrible than he could possibly imagine.

A political suspense thriller that takes you from the remote Australian outback to Parliament House in Canberra, with twists and turns that you will not see coming.

Our Review

Two men are destined to become enemies, but their story could have been so different. Clever and suspenseful, the tension maintained throughout became almost unbearable.

I couldn’t make up my mind which man I rooted for, as the balance between them shifted all the time. There was good and bad in each of them. So, one way or another, between the two of them, there wasn’t much of a choice.

Redemption is a weird premise, for sometimes the guilt is shared, making atonement impossible.  The culmination was not what I expected, as all the twists and turns had me doubting my own judgement.

Dead Dry Heart is a riveting and complicated journey. Unusual and well-written, unlike anything I have ever read before, but I will remember the story of these two men for some time…
