Ok, I know what you’re thinking, how boastful do you have to be, to claim kindred spirit status with perhaps the greatest genius, certainly of his generation, and possibly ever? Well, just stick with me.
In May, I finally (third time lucky!) managed to get to the exhibition of da Vinci drawings at the Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens. Having seen the display a couple of years ago at the Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle, I was really excited to see more, and wasn’t disappointed. The drawings are so intricate, so beautiful, and so detailed, whether of a crying woman, plants, body parts of the defences of a city.
Looking around the exhibition though, there was one thing which stood out, and which I went back and read up on afterwards: the number of projects Leonardo either started, or was believed to be planning, which he simply never got around…
