He was a WORKING artist; he didn’t give it away.
Yes, in principle, but in practice he had to eat and buy shoes as much as any other human.
I’m trying to do the same: the gift is fiction, writing it at all is my gift, but it is supposed to at least pay for itself. And you can’t affect the lives of many people if you don’t get them to read, can you?
I do my part – and it takes me YEARS.
