Like a Hawk

As most of us know, grief is a non-linear journey and on Saturday I was reminded of this. Throughout the day I experienced deep, visceral pangs of loss in my body and felt very tearful.

Fortunately I have learned to flow with grief and through the full acceptance of my feelings I usually find that they come and go peacefully these days.

As I walked out to find solace and share a moment with Dad on his bench, I was struck by a bird of prey hovering intently in the bright blue sky above. Dad loved birds and I took this as a real sign that he was very much with me reassuring me of his constant presence. A sign that was reinforced when I randomly selected a card from my animal card deck and it was a hawk!
