Lens-Artists #120: A Treat in My Neighborhood and In My Own Yard!

Musin' With Susan

This week  Tina is hosting the weekly Lens-Artists Challenge.  The theme is What A Treat . In my walks through my neighborhood since Covid began, I have seen chickens, tortoises, Halloween decorations, and fairy gardens.  The most exciting that I’ve seen is the real live science lesson that I came across earlier this week!  Posted inside this family’s fairy garden was the sign below.

I took a closer look and, indeed, saw several of the fritillary caterpillars.

Several years ago I planted milkweed in my backyard to attract monarch butterflies and I have seen one or two hovering around lately.  As I studied this site I thought to myself, “Maybe we have caterpillars, too, and I just haven’t looked closely enough to see them.”  Sure enough, when I arrived home, here is what I found!

I haven’t found a chrysalis yet, but am guessing that I will see one soon!
