Song Lyric Sunday 21st June

I nominate myself for today’s theme – Maria/Marie/Mary – as my middle name is Mary after my maternal grandmother who sadly died four years before I was born.
You can check out more of Jim’s challenge and future themes here

I could go with Maria from the Sound of Music as I’ve seen that film so many times I could probably act it on my own.
There’s Proud Mary and Arms of Mary, but I’m going with this from Paint Your Wagon sung by Harve Presnell.

They Call the Wind Mariah
written by Alan J. Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe for their 1951 Broadway musical, Paint Your Wagon, which is set in the California Gold Rush.

Lyrics courtesy

Way out west, they got a name
For rain and wind and fire
The rain is Tess, the fire’s Joe and
They call the wind Mariah
