Please accept my apologies for not publishing a garden post in February, but the weather was somewhat stormy!

Thankfully, the latter part of this month has been dry and sunny, allowing me to catch up on my garden tasks.

I have been ably assisted by Fido my neighbours cat:

It was a mild winter and weeds continued to grow in abundance, but I have less to contend with this year as I added a fine bark mulch to some of my flowerbeds last autumn.


Mulches have the following benefits:

  • Prevent weeds
  • Aid moisture retention in the soil
  • Protect plant roots from frost
  • Flowerbeds look more attractive.
