  1. I’m quite fussy about names. In ‘real life’ it is an important issue that many people do not take seriously enough. Parents call their – say – four children with names beginning with a letter like R, for instance, for Ronald, Rowan, Roger, or Ruth. What confusion re their post! And American people, in particular, approach naming their offspring on spur of the moment ideas. I wrote a few articles about names years ago and spent happy hours in the library doing research. Authenticated names (US) were Cherry Pie, Ima Pigg…Rose Bush and many similar. I loved some of Dickens odd ones though. US romance stories boast of Lances, Busters, Broadland and such-like which turn me right off, but then taste is so subjective ‘Brooklyn’ is one thing, but. It’s as well my parents didn’t name me after the place I was
conceived, as it was ‘Clacton on Sea’ Cheers x.
