Breaking the Chains of Generational Depression

I look my girls to the doctor last week. We adore our doctor, and that’s why we drive 45 mins-1 hour to see him. We’ve been with him since I was pregnant with my youngest, so 8 and 1/2 years ago. Anyway, my kids are all hitting the pre-teen, teen years, so I brought up a topic that’s been on my heart for several months.

You see, I’m an Oklahoma girl. We didn’t have health insurance growing up, like a lot of other poor families. So, like a lot of other things in life, we simply ignored problems and pushed through.

On one hand, that’s where I get my grit from. On the other hand, that’s where I get my idiotic tendency to not address my high blood pressure for several months. Sometimes, you cannot simply eat better and exercise more. Sometimes, you have to put your big girl panties…
