I also managed to turn off the ‘comments disabled’ that someone thankfully mentioned as well. It took me ages to find where the ‘new and improved’ WP ‘editor’ aka the gutenberg from hell, had reassigned it to in my dashboard settings. So, all comments are welcome. :)
