Everyone is on a Tanka craze this week, so I thought I’d join in! Our words were work and slow, using synonyms only. The word, work was inspired by Robbie Cheadle’s going back to work! It’s funny where I find inspiration! LOL! I used “function” for work, and “quiet” for slow.
Simile, Metaphor, and Personification are all used when writing a Tanka poem. (Click the links and learn the terms).
Like the Haibun, the Tanka should be written in the first person. In this way, the poet shares his/her experiences by following a five line, 5/7/5/7/7 syllable structure in their poetry. Now sure how to write a Tanka? Click HERE.
A Meditation
I function my best
when my day germinates with
thoughtful quiet time —
and like the lotus I spin
cleansing my chakras anew.
