An Action Shot…

Here in the UK, Wimbledon Tennis fortnight has begun. I never intend to binge-watch every match like I did when I was younger, but this is usually what happens. Today, though, I had planned to change our mailing list provider. Mailchimp has become too complicated and expensive.

Since I recovered enough from my spinal problem, I have tried so hard to get back into the swing of things, but so far it has been tentative at best. Earlier this year, before I collapsed, I had been trying to smarten up our website and didn’t quite finish the job. There are still things I need to finish, and one of them is our mailing list.

What I have always loved about this business is that we get to choose what we do, and /or how we do it. We can do as much or as little as we like, depending on how far we want to go. Two things you really must have though, are a decent website and a functioning mailing list.

As I write this, I have one eye on the TV, where tennis matches are in full swing. In London, where Wimbledon is, the temperature is already 32 degrees, but the players are literally giving their best shots. The dedication is catching, reminding me of my own.

Maybe I will watch one more match before returning to my desk…

My spine is about as good as it can get, Jane. Further investigations might be in order, as I don’t fancy staying semi fit for much longer…

Yes, being semi-fit is a drag. Frustration drives us mad I know. Hope all is sorted out soon. Positive healing vibes. By the way, when I was able to get out and about, walking by rivers and lakes was a great pleasure. Took way too many photos. Nuts really. x

Not nuts at all, Jane… we need to record our best moments, for those times when we can’t see them for real…

A couple of decades ago I used to watch Wimbledon religiously … Chris Evert-Lloyd, Martina Navratilova (that era) – they had some spectacular matches! :D

Me too, but it doesn’t seem the same now, or is it just the heat?

I hope you were able to make the newsletter switch without too many issues. It’s always hard to incorporate something new. Enjoy the tennis matches!

I always wish I was better at all these things, Jan. I have already fallen foul of Google, as my passwords didn’t match. Now I have to tackle verifying our domain… something I have done before, so should be easy…

If you’re on the WordPress premium plan (or higher), you can use the WP mailing system with free RSS feeds to subscribers. For my wife’s site, we imported subscribers from MailerLite, combining them with those already on the WP system. You should be able to do that with MailChimp subscribers. The migration worked without problems and fairly straightforward, saving money. The process is documented in the WP helps screens, but let me know if you have questions and I’ll gladly share more details.
