One Thing after Another…

You must remember that old saying about waiting for a bus, then three of them come along all at once?

Well, we have been living this for a while now.

First, the fridge freezer decided to drop the freezing habit. Turned out to be too old to be repaired (now why does that sound familiar?) so we qualified for a replacement under the insurance policy.

Then, the washing machine thought it would be fun to dance around the room. This machine is also old (there is a theme around here somewhere), and we are presently waiting to see if it can be fixed.

Yesterday, for some reason, I decided to blitz the housework. It was a bit overdue, I will admit. I hoovered every inch of the place and was just finishing the last room when a loud, grinding noise stopped me in my tracks. A red light came on, too, so I switched the machine off, assuming it had picked up something it didn’t like.

I have always had a problem with the amount of hair that gets wrapped around the brushes. This time, there had to be more than I could see, for the brushes still refused to move even after I removed quite a lot. I am going to hunt for the instruction booklet that came with it to see if I can undo something and clean it properly.

Hell of a way to pass the time. But it will shut my brain down for a while.

Coming back to the day job (who am I kidding?) I have another job to try and do. Don’t laugh; this goes on all the time here. I want to do something, so I learn how and then fail miserably.

Remember last year when I tried to change our WP theme?

That was a colossal fail, and one of the Happiness Engineers (bless him) had to put us back where we started. Well, I am going to try and do it again, for I seem to have lost the subscription form on our present theme and have been informed that there is no way to install one. It’s not a block theme, whatever that means!

Monday draws ever closer, and so does my doctor’s appointment. Despite all my efforts, I have just one question that needs to be answered. If I get the right answer, everything else is manageable…

I have also been busy with the new book, it is coming along very well…

That’s a lot of housework! And what a fiasco with your appliances. Tomorrow is Monday and I’ll be thinking of you. I hope you get some answers from the doc. Hugs.

Fingers crossed for the doctor! And wow, I don’t know where you get the energy. As for the appliances… -sigh- …been there, done that. Sadly the new ones we’ve had to buy are nowhere near as good as the old ones. That seems to be a pattern too. :(

Progress was replaced by that other ‘P’ word: profit. :(

I can heartily sympathise as we had similar last year. 1 repair, one new kettle and one new tumble dryer. When did tumble dryers become so expensive!? I hope you get the right answer on Monday.

I want those shoes the lady is wearing in your graphic. :) Would make mopping the floor easier. Sounds like the vacuum might have bit the dust (no pun intended).

It is a very old hoover and has been a good one, so probably time for a new one. I like those shoes too, although might be a bit risky at my age!

Your post made me laugh, and I’m thankful you were dealing with machines and not snakes. As to WordPress and the constant change, even the Happiness Engineers can’t keep up with the flood of innovation. I’m thankful the backups work, or else, our sites would be toast. Have a great weekend!

Everything always happens at once. On the subject of vacuum cleaners, mine started whistling. I went to the website and it told me that insufficient air was getting on, so first empty it. (There was hardly anything in the dust container.) Then they told me to check the hoses. It still whistled. Then it was see if there is hair around the brushes and clear it. It still whistled.
I tried ringing the number on their website and got a message ‘number not known!’
So I have a whistling vacuum cleaner!

Whistling is altogether better than a growling vacuum cleaner. Could there be any filters that need cleaning?

No. I clean them regularly , and even just changed them, but the whistle continues.

I bought the most effective hair rake/ pet hair broom don’t know exactly what to call it, but it is a rubber rake that you go over the carpet with, and it collects all the hair, and that way none of it gets stuck in the vacuum. I was amazed at how much hair it picked up and gets easily underneath things a vacuum cannot.

I have one of these, bought for those occasions when I cut someone’s hair. It’s blooming hard work though!
