We were all ready to jump into the New Year. Enthusiasm switched on, ready for anything…
We had barely sobered up after drinking too much wine on New Year’s Eve before the problems started lining up. The first was a biggy. The fridge freezer started making a weird screeching sound, never a good sign with electricals. Then I noticed the temperature inside said appliance was way too low. I checked the thermostat and turned it down a bit, obviously hoping for a miracle to turn up by then.
No such luck. Out of curiosity, I wondered how old the fridge was, and/or if it was repairable. My head was already in nightmare mode, remembering the last time we needed a new fridge. Most companies will remove the offending defunct article, but they must be empty and frost free.
Then there is the problem of moving the darn thing. It was neatly inserted into a very small kitchen, and last time, I had to move two cupboards to get at it.
I absolutley hate defrosting a freezer, and what to do with all the food while this was going on?
This is when I seriously wanted to leave home.
While all of this was going on, my earache was getting steadily worse, and my head felt as though it would burst. I probably needed to see my doctor again. (something else I hate doing!)
Then there was my Christmas gift to myself. A refurbished Apple Macbook. I wanted to try it out, just to see if it could be better than blessed Windows. Lets face it, almost anything could be better than Windows! I had actually unpacked it, but that was as far as I got, what with everything else going on. I must check how long I have to try it, before sending it back, cos at this point it’s not looking hopeful. I cannot think straight or make coherent decisions about anything.
So, our New Year is on hold. When (and if) the dust settles, we will try again…

We do hope you are having better luck with your New Year!
