There will be a slight delay…

We were all ready to jump into the New Year. Enthusiasm switched on, ready for anything…

We had barely sobered up after drinking too much wine on New Year’s Eve before the problems started lining up. The first was a biggy. The fridge freezer started making a weird screeching sound, never a good sign with electricals. Then I noticed the temperature inside said appliance was way too low. I checked the thermostat and turned it down a bit, obviously hoping for a miracle to turn up by then.

No such luck. Out of curiosity, I wondered how old the fridge was, and/or if it was repairable. My head was already in nightmare mode, remembering the last time we needed a new fridge. Most companies will remove the offending defunct article, but they must be empty and frost free.

Then there is the problem of moving the darn thing. It was neatly inserted into a very small kitchen, and last time, I had to move two cupboards to get at it.

I absolutley hate defrosting a freezer, and what to do with all the food while this was going on?

This is when I seriously wanted to leave home.

While all of this was going on, my earache was getting steadily worse, and my head felt as though it would burst. I probably needed to see my doctor again. (something else I hate doing!)

Then there was my Christmas gift to myself. A refurbished Apple Macbook. I wanted to try it out, just to see if it could be better than blessed Windows. Lets face it, almost anything could be better than Windows! I had actually unpacked it, but that was as far as I got, what with everything else going on. I must check how long I have to try it, before sending it back, cos at this point it’s not looking hopeful. I cannot think straight or make coherent decisions about anything.

So, our New Year is on hold. When (and if) the dust settles, we will try again…

We do hope you are having better luck with your New Year!

Oh, so sorry for all the troubles, Jaye. Replacing a major appliance is not only a headache, but they are ridiculously priced. Sending good wishes for better days!

A great way to start the year, Jan, makes me wonder what else this year will bring?

Think of it this way: It’s been a disastrous start to the year, so it can only get better.

I hope you can get to see your doctor and get your earache sorted.

The trouble with me these days, is when faced with more than one emergency, I tend to wait for them to decide which one is more important. The days when I could cope with anything are sadly, long gone…

Such things always happen at the wrong time. Damned electrical goods! The earache another issue and much more painful.Hope you feel better soon and that all turns out okay very quickly. Hang on in there and stay positive My Friends.

Hang in there. Everyone on social media will only ever depict happy times and therefore put forth a false idea that life is always positive (unless posting political nonsense). Life is rough, but if we acknowledge that it is and reach out to others, we find that there are folks like us who are going through it. This season will pass. It won’t last forever. Take time to take a breath and regroup. You’ll get through it.

My problem is that I’m too honest. Luckily, I do have good times too…

We bought a refurbished MacBook Air(albeit from the Apple Canada website) back in 2014. Haven’t had any issues with it. Only thing now is the battery doesn’t hold a charge for very long anymore. True it is different than Windows, but we’d never go back.

I think you either love or hate Apple products. I’ve not tried a MacBook, but I had an iPad for a while. Apple products seem to get to the ‘can’t update any longer, so you need to buy a new one’ quicker than Android.

Our MacBook is the only Apple product we’ve had. We do need to replace it though. After ten years it doesn’t owe us anything.

Good to know, Vivienne. I won’t be climbing on to the Apple wagon though, they are far too complicated for me…

Not that I love Windows, but I can’t get on with Apple either. There is a message there, I’m sure…
