Poor Milo…

I was hoping for a much better week, but one way or another what with life getting in the way, again, and poor Milo, it hasn’t been very good.

When we noticed that he was showing similar signs to the last time, we rushed him to the vet. He hasn’t been eating, his temperature was up, and he definitely wasn’t a happy bunny. Such a sweet boy these days and seeing him in distress was upsetting. You feel so helpless, don’t you? I know I do.

The vet started talking serious stuff, which turned my blood cold. Possible feline leukaemia and pancreatitis, both of which can be fatal. The results of the first blood test were inconclusive, so a second one was sent off for investigation. They decided to keep Milo overnight to get his fever down and give him fluids, and with heavy hearts, we came home without him.

As if this wasn’t enough for the poor love, once he was back home his face broke out in a rash with bald patches, so it was back to the vet again.

Thank heavens he is insured!

This time the verdict was an allergy, and a steroid jab would take care of that, we were told. I was beginning to feel as if I was at my doctors at that point, feeling as if we weren’t getting the whole picture.

Milo is looking a little better now, his face isn’t so red, and he is eating more, so hopefully the final results will be good.

Not sure if it’s all the worry, but I am so tired all the time. My family often say that I could sleep on a clothesline, but I nearly fell of my office chair yesterday, so maybe they’re wrong!

I have managed to finish the first edit of Folly’s End and have a pile of things to check when I start the next one. Word keeps interfering, throwing trouble at me all the time. The last glitch nearly gave me a heart attack when I thought half of the book had vanished, so I definitely won’t be writing my next book with them.

Can I ask for some input on everyone’s favourite method, please?

The week hasn’t been totally miserable however. In the evenings, I have started the latest craft project. Matching jackets for the great grand babies!

I have been promising myself to make time for crafts, as they allow me to get some serious thinking done while I work.

you should try it, it really works!

I hope your”fur baby” Milo will recover with you all well. I had a cat the same breed as yours that is no longer with us. It hurts to see them not well. They can’t talk to you as a human can tell you exactly what is wrong.
    Have a blessed Resurrection Sunday!❤️

I use Word for all my docs, but I have learned to save everything also to the Cloud – Dropbox to be exact. :) x

I did try Dropbox, but found them so annoying, like ants, they were everywhere! Word, on the other hand, are busy changing everything on a daily basis. I cannot keep up or understand any of it…

I’m so sorry Milo isn’t well. It’s always awful when a small family member is sick. My Golli is getting old and having some problems too, but he’s still eating and seems happy, so that gives me comfort. I wish they lived as long as we do.

Re a better writing option, I can offer 2. The first one is Scrivener, which most people will know or will have heard of. The second one is the one I actually use. It’s called Storybox and it’s similar to Scrivener in that it’s like a project management tool/wordprocessor combined. Everything is based on scenes and chapters, and you can very easily move scenes within a chapter, and/or move whole chapters from one spot to another. No cut and paste required. You can also use the scene and chapter headings as an outline, but in reverse. It’s great for being able to see the story at a glance. Word does have similar features, but they’re clunky and unwieldy. Plus Word does not like HUGE files.

Storybox has lots of other features as well, but those are the biggies for me. You can find it at this link:

    good luck!

Thanks for your input, Meeks. I will check Storybox out immediately… is it easier than Scrivener?

I am feeling so sorry, for these sad experiences you had. Best wishes to Milo, for a fast recovery. For writing purposes i am using OpenOffice, as Word hasn’t given me the comfort to print pdf. If your work got vanished, maybe you should search for a automatic backup file, Word produces regularely without any previous notice to the user. These backup files have the ending *.wbk. You also should search for so called temporary files. They can be found on the harddisk C:/user/AppData/Local/Temp. Best wishes, Michael

Poor Milo, he’s going through the wars and hope he feels much better soon. The vet seems to be caring and looking at everything which is good. Yikes, what a scare of half your book disappearing. Following advice from a blogger I regularly email myself the draft of the book as I’m working on it as I had a similar scare with my first one. At the moment I’m using scrivener although it took a while to get used to this program.

yes, I haven’t quite mastered that yet. I have often wondered, can you edit your work in Scrivener?

Absolutely and I like the way you can move the chapters around and I also make good use of the virtual pinboard so I have a quick overview of my work as well as putting lots of ideas and research in the separate area!

Sending both you and Milo best wishes.🌻🌼🌷🪻
I’ve stuck with Word for the simple but unworthy reason that I can’t summon up the effort to try another. Not trusting it, though, further than I could throw an old-fashioned 1st decade computer, work gets backed up on a memory stick.
All the trials do ask their price of one though, small wonder you are feeling tired.
    More best wishes 🪻🌷🌼🌻
