To look into the face of a sunflower

Is to see creation, full of wonder

The need to dance, to smile for no reason

Other than their sheer beauty.

I also think of Vincent van Gogh

The dark places his mind took him

A fevered mind that tore at his flesh

How hard it is to capture perfection in oils

If he could see them now, he would know

He had captured those smiling dancing faces

for those of us who have eyes to see.

The moment he put paint to canvas

His sunflowers will forever smile at those who pass by

Daring you to feel anything

other than joy when leaving the gallery…

Beautiful once again ladies. Van Gogh is someone I have an interest in along with Poe. Such works of creativity contrived by minds that were troubled and disturbed. I always ponder why a piece of writing or art was actually done. By what thought did the idea turn to concept and art. Why a sunflower and are scholarly pieces on this actually correct or based on subjective guesswork. Then again I overthink things too!

      Signs of creativity, I think!

With my mind I should be sitting quite well if it’s a sign of creativity then 😱

Such a thoughtful reflection on Van Gogh and how his tortured soul created such eternal beauty.

There will always be a link to him when we see a sunflower…

I love sunflowers and those painting! <3 This makes me want spring and still makes me smile even though it's a bit dreary today. <3

They are! <3 I get the impression, if you were a flower, you could certainly be a sunflower.

Such lovely and vivid imagery. I particularly liked the line ‘A fevered mind that tore at his flesh.’ – more vivid than lovely there, but as I imagined his paintings I juxtaposed his Sunflowers piece with his Severed Ear piece. Great job at getting those images to surface in my mind!
