The Long Awaited day…

I wasn’t quite sure how I felt when I woke up on Friday morning, so it was a very confused woman who staggered to the car.

For days, I had been fighting a feeling of vague disappointment, so sure that this long-awaited appointment would be a waste of time, like so many before. (It usually takes a long time, and several repeated appointments for me get any answers.)

In for a penny, though, so I wore my best optimistic face and sallied forth. Both procedures were grueling and lengthy. The first, where they used me as a pincushion, injecting dye into my right hip to illuminate the possible problem, took a while, but the doctor who spent a lot of time handling my nether regions was very attractive, and smiled at me a lot, so there were bonuses.

Then came the MRI, which went on so long I almost fell asleep. Why do they insist on shouting instructions at you, when you’re wearing earplugs and a set of earphones?

All told, this visit took six hours…

Long before I reached home, the effects of the steroid they had also injected were beginning to ease the pain, and I wanted to cheer. I pray that it lasts…

It was an exhausting day, but all I could think about was finishing my latest book, Swan Song…

Sounds like you are experiencing some pain relief. I am happy for that.

The relief faded on the second day, much to my dismay. Maybe it was only meant for the procedure?

That’s a shame. Do you have any more scheduled?

Nope, unless I hear to the contrary, I must wait until January for my next appointment…

Mission accomplished! :-) Well done. Oh, i am knowing too well how many hours are consumed by the MRI. But it`s the best you can have for a good diagnosis. Best wishes, Michael
