Sweltering Sunday…

I tried to find an image that truly depicted our suffering in this heatwave, but these two don’t seem to be suffering at all!

We have never liked the hot weather, but this latest hot spell has robbed us of our energy, and there is no escaping it. I think AC is unheard of in the UK, but if this weather is going to be a regular thing, I can see more homes investing in some.

Something for our Councils to think about for the future…

Europe has it a lot worse than us, and they really have our sympathies. How on earth do you cope, when even the roads are melting?

Our yard is always cooler, but not this year. I wanted to spend some time with my bonsai, now I can finally get out there, but the thought of sitting out there, squinting in that strong sunlight keeps me indoors…

Cooler temperatures next week, and we can’t wait!

Anyone know how to do a rain dance?

    My bestie lives in Kent. I hear about the hot summers year after year. I told her to get an air conditioning unit from somewhere :) I should think newly built homes should start having them. Climate change isn’t going anywhere. Sadly. 😋

    I remember when I was a kid, we didn’t even own a fan much less aircon. I don’t think anyone did, despite Australian summers always being hot. But there is hot and then there is life-threatening. Back when I was a kid, 35C was considered to be sweltering and we were all sent home from school. These days? 39C is considered ‘hot’ and 40-41 is life threatening.

    It’s been a gradual thing though and as the summers got hotter, we’ve all had to invest in aircon, even if it’s only for one room. Sadly the poorest – often the elderly – can’t afford aircon, or if they can, they can’t afford to run it, and they are dying.

    If you can manage it, get one of those split systems for the main living area of your house. If nothing else, you and Anita can sit there and read during the worst of the heat. I think it’s becoming a life-saving investment in the UK and Europe as well. :(

    I think these exceptionally hot summers are going to be the norm, it’s even 80 degrees in Alaska, not today but it was for about two weeks and is expected back in a few days! Keep cool my friend ☺️

    Same here, Jaye! I’d been putting off doing the garden for days … till I couldn’t procrastinate any longer, and … it rained on me. the whole day. At least the friends arriving from New Zealand will think we always keep it that way!!
