Overcoming Holiday Blues: My Christmas Journey

I started my day feeling as miserable as the weather outside. I looked for something to cheer up the day, so I could shake off the doldrums and work on my WIP.

Sadly, I couldn’t find anything inspiring, just a reminder that Christmas is nearly here. Twelve days to summon up some enthusiasm, or at least find a way to fake it.

It doesn’t feel as though Christmas is just around the corner. The weather has something to do with that, I’m sure, as the days are grey and dismal. People are starting to look grey and dismal too.

We haven’t seen any sunshine for ages either. The promise of snow would help, and there will be some, just not here…

I will sign off now, before I manage to depress everyone. Hopefully, my writing will sort me out…

best wishes

Jaye 💖💖

    You are not alone.

Perhaps the weather reflects something deep within.

Whenever you are blue 💙 … Don’t try to be green 💚.

Sometimes it’s grief of someone or something you deeply loved. Do not send them away.

Sometimes your heart is sending signals that you need something…. Listen to it.

Whether you are anxious, sad, angry or hungry .. It is okay.

Don’t try to suppress it. Face it, embrace it, sit with it and make friends with it.

    Hugs mama💞🥹.

    Merry Christmas 🎄☕

I feel the same way here Jaye. Dark, dismal, freezing cold and no snow, but they say it’s coming. Wishing you lots of inspiration! <3

Inspiration is proving to be elusive, Debby. There is a lot going on behind the scenes and none of it is pleasant. I am hoping the New Year will bring some much needed peace to our household…

You think your eyesight is failing then realise you need to turn all the lights on indoors because it’s so gloomy outside. At least Christmas lights brighten things up.

My eyesight is failing, and I see the optician tomorrow. I really hope it’s not the same response. That I am getting really old, and what else can I expect…

I know what you mean by missing the sun – we had a bit of blue sky the other day for a couple of hours, then it was back to this overcast gloom. :(

We actually had sunshine yesterday, for all of half an hour! It was lovely while it lasted…

I have an idea. How about you sit in your chair where you normally write and set an alarm for 1/2 hour. You can do anything you want for the half hour (even start writing) When the alarm goes off you have to leave the chair and whatever you are doing. Do this for a week and I’ll bet your brain will look forward to the half hour each day. You can then extend it as you see fit. (Worked for me at one time)

That does seem like a good idea, John, but I think I might have beaten you to it, as this is exactly what I did yesterday, only I was there for four hours!

Good for you. Needs to be done every day (not for four hours though)

I’ll take whatever they give me, John. I would rather write than do almost anything else!

You are right, of course, Jan. and normally I can. But this year has taken its toll, and I’m flagging… Thanks for the hugs, they will help a lot!

For some people, winter can make them feel more depressed. They can feel better though because of Christmas.
