I normally don’t like Mondays much.
It’s the one day of the week when I need to know what’s happening in my world. That way, I can decide which direction to take or not, depending on the circumstances.
Funny things, circumstances. You can usually manipulate them a bit or ignore them if you want.
I much prefer those days when things are already mapped out and all I have to do is turn up.
Today is going to be one of those days. Due to the extraordinary Sunday I had yesterday.
Sundays are not usually my favourite day of the week. They are a family day, where I cook a roast dinner and become domesticated. (yes, I can still do this!) This usually leaves no time for anything else. I consider myself lucky if I get to clear my emails!
Yesterday was very different.
The family had requested a hotpot for that day’s dinner, which meant I would have more time for other things.
I began the day by re-writing chapter one of Swan Song, the current WIP. I had been rereading my first effort, making miles of corrections and suggestions, and was eager to get started. Words poured out of my head onto the paper like magic. A magic I hadn’t experienced for what seemed like a long time.
I took a break, assembled the hotpot, and threw it into the oven, giving me at least two more hours to continue writing. I decided to transcribe my scribble to Word, more to put them in a safe place than anything else, and for the rest of the day, I wrote notes for the next few chapters, thrilled to be back in the author chair.
My after-dinner snooze was the shortest ever, and I continued scribbling long into the evening, finally going to bed, a very happy bunny!
