Have you ever tried to borrow a Muse?

Have you ever tried to borrow a Muse?

Having written the opening chapter of my new story several times, I was beginning to despair.

No matter what I did or where I looked, the magic wasn’t there.

Or if it was, it was doing a grand job of concealing itself.

My sister’s opinion of both chapters sits uncomfortably in my mind, leaving me confused.

This was where I needed a muse if there was one to be had. I had tried everything to find one and was beginning to think my writing days were fading away…

While browsing books on Amazon.com, I began to sense the strong female presence of one of my favourite authors.

Unfortunately, it was time to cook dinner. So, with her presence still in my mind, my thoughts began to take shape. It was during that after-dinner time, when I normally slip into a snooze, that those thoughts became ideas.

There was something amiss with my favourite leading man, DI David Snow. Was there something wrong with him, something missing?

Had I made him too nice in previous books?

This is when I realised what needed to be done.

Snow has always been kind, caring, and considerate, but now he finds himself old, alone, and frustrated. He is no longer content to drift along without a purpose.

This is something I can identify with, so I should be able to finally write his story…

Wish me luck!

Danger! author at work!

Best wishes for your venture. There’s always one muse waiting to give you inspiration.
It can get complicated if more than two turn up.
Keep up the good work. 🌼🌻🌷

I have enough trouble finding one muse, what would I do with two?

That’s the problem, sometimes they just turn up without invitation and start nagging the writer and scraping for attention.
There are nine of them, always busying about
At this time of life I would rather not have Terpsichore (muse of verse of light dance) turn up though.

I knew it would show up! Of course you can borrow a muse. There is not enough of them to go around!!

Yay! Glad you found your solution. If something is not quite right, it will mess with the whole creative process. Now you’ve identified the problem, maybe everything will start to flow.
