I am sad to say that yesterday’s wonderful flakes of snow didn’t last long. In an hour, they were but a memory…
Every time I think the weather is as cold as it will get, it drops another few degrees. They say that the temperature will return to normal at the weekend, and I hope it does.
I have been so cold this week. I’m too cold to think or remember things, and I’m definitely too cold to be creative. Some of this was already in place, thanks to the pressure building up inside my head, causing my vision problems.
Having all these excuses on hand doesn’t make me feel any better—quite the opposite, really. I am so frustrated that I feel like screaming.
My family is creeping around me on eggshells, their faces full of worry. I am worried, too, for if this, whatever it is, doesn’t go away soon, I may lose my mind.
For the first time in my life, I can’t lose myself in my writing, just in case some of my misery and frustration bleeds through and contaminates it.
It’s the same with my knitting. I was eager to start a new project, but I can’t find enough enthusiasm to pick it up and begin.
Just when I resigned myself to another cold and miserable day, some news arrived, a wonderful review for my book, The Mystery of Folly’s End.

The story kept me guessing from the start. The relationship between sisters is often complicated. For Charlotte and Angela, it is especially capricious ever since Angie stole Charlotte’s boyfriend from her and married him. However, when Angie needs help, Charlotte gives up everything to come to her aide, even though it is not always appreciated. But things don’t add up, and Charlie gets involved in a mystery with no obvious answers. The dynamics between the sisters are hot and cold. Angie is annoying, her supposed dead husband’s business partner is charming and Charlotte is confused as her life implodes. The story is written from more than one point of view, but each character gets their own chapter so it’s not confusing. This is an enjoyable read with many twists and turns and the foreshadowing is well done. Although some questions are not clearly answered, the ending is satisfying.

Huge thanks to Darlene for making my day!
The weekend looks better already, and maybe I can work on the new book now…
