A lovely Sunday morning to you all!
I started the day very confused.
When I came downstairs at what I thought was my usual hour, I discovered that my number one son hadn’t gone to work, and he should have. I wandered around the house, but everything was as I left it last night.
What was going on?
Had something happened, and no one told me? This isn’t unusual; I’m usually the last person to be told anything.
When he came down the stairs half an hour later, I discovered the clocks had gone back—no more Summertime here in the UK.
Just to continue the strangeness, there was a very bright light outside in the garden. Upon investigation, I realised that the sun—at least I am surmising that’s what it was—was shining. It’s been so long since I have seen it.
Which meant only one thing. Chances were I would be cutting the grass before the day was out. It’s not something I usually do on a Sunday, but it needs to be done before it gets too long to do anything about it.
I have another job to do today. I say do, but what I mean is I will have a look and see what can be done by me. The handle on my cooker is very loose and in danger of coming off in my hand the next time I open the oven door. I discovered this yesterday when cooking a roast dinner. I had visions of our food trapped inside the oven, but luckily, that didn’t happen. I am cooking a shepherd’s pie today and hope to fix the blessed door.
There is one more job that needs doing, of course by me, my lot have no idea what a broom is for! The bonsai forest has been shedding leaves, and the local starlings have been digging around again, resulting in quite a mess in our yard. A lovely sunny day is just the right time for a tidy-up, ending in a good sweep…
Whatever happened to Sunday being a day of rest?
Something to make you smile?

…and I’m still smiling…
