More Fun and Games… #Crochet #Blocking

As you can see from the picture, I have no room in my office due to drying all my completed granny squares.

Originally, being new to this granny square business, I thought all I had to do was stitch them all together. But that didn’t turn out to be as easy as it sounds. Nothing ever is, though, is it?

When you crochet one of these squares, they end up rounded, which makes judging where the corners are, just a little awkward.

I read up on it and discovered the joys of blocking—at least, that was how they described it. You have to make the squares wet, squeeze out the moisture, and put them on blocking boards, being careful to pull out the corners. They are supposedly dry the next day and in perfect shape.

Using the lamp was my stupid idea…

As you can see, this didn’t happen, and now I have no space to do anything!

This reminds me of all those other jobs that sounded quick and easy until you learn about all the things you need to do before you can get anywhere.

Self-publishing your book is a case in point, and if you have ever attempted this, you will know what I mean. There is a constant stream of things that need to be done first. And if you are like me, you will usually do some of them in the wrong order!

Back to those squares, they were supposed to be something to do in my rest period in the evenings, not keep me from working on my new book…

They look so good. But yeah, things often seem easier until you actually try them.

Yes, I am slowly going off them, but will wait to see the finished article before passing judgement, John…
