Grey Skies and Bonsai… #Poetry #Bonsai

Morning everyone, it’s not so good this morning. The sunshine has gone, and grey is the colour of the morning here. Those character bio’s for the book launch are not quite finished, so hoping for tomorrow.

It must be the grey skies, but I feel a little doom and gloom hovering just out of sight, which is why I must have homed in on this poem from Anita…

Desperate to get out of the house, for thanks to the arthritis, I haven’t been out for ages, I went out in the yard and chatted with the bonsai. Sounds desparate, doesn’t it, but believe me they are some of my best conversations. They rarely argue or criticise, so this makes them my best buddies.

I ended up talking to one of my almost failures, one I keep out of sight in my potting corner.

I have been waiting for inspiration to arrive, for this tree was supposed to be turned into a cloud tree. I can almost see the pads, I just need the courage to pick up the shears!

This image is where I plan my next move…

I must have been feeling brave, for I had a go!

The tree was very overgrown so I had to trim the pads a bit more than I wanted, but this was necessary for me to see what I was doing. Once all the branches are in the best position, those pads can grow bigger and develop the right shape.

Just in case you would like to see what a cloud tree looks like…

See you tomorrow to meet the leading character of Folly’s End!

Jaye, the bonsai are fascinating and you seem quite the expert! Talking to plants is a good sign, you know! 😀 Yikes, Anita’s poem is powerful and foreboding – it is grey here too so I rather got into its mood! Good luck with the character reveal tomorrow. Annika

Thanks Annika… I’m not an expert, but it’s wonderful that you think I am one! 🌳💖
