I usually forget these things, but for some reason it was on my mind all evening. They said the best time to see the aura borealis was around eleven o clock, so I left the Eurovision contest in my families capable hands, and staggered outside to the blissful silence of my yard.
A quick check of the sky told me what I had expected. No magic light show, streaks of colour, nothing at all really. There was a crescent moon however, and I stood and watched her for a while, stood hoping to be treated to a litle magic.
I decided to take a few pictures , but wasn’t expecting to see what my phone produced. I never have much luck photographing the moon, it’s always blurred. They say that the camera never lies, but mine was having a field day, don’t you think?

Standing in the same place, at the same angle, I tried again…

This was getting weird, so one last try…

Who lit those trees up? I think I might have to seek out my actual camera, for my phone has obviously seen better days… and taken better images!
I hope that some of you, depending on where you live, might have had better luck!
