Many years ago, I often wished I had someone I could talk to, someone who wouldn’t judge me or criticise my ideas.
I was an only child, and we constantly moved from place to place. I didn’t make friends easily; even when I thought I found one, we were off and moving again.
I used to study the people I saw every day, wondering what their lives were like. Sometimes, I invented new lives for them. This was probably the beginning of my becoming a storyteller.
Even as an adult, friends didn’t flock to my side. My life hurtled from one sad situation to another, and having someone to talk to would have been wonderful.
When I started writing and blogging, I knew I would have to communicate with people. I initially didn’t find it easy, and I felt like a lonely child in the playground again. I didn’t know how to talk to people. I tried, but finding the right words was difficult, and when I thought I had, they sounded wrong.
I had always found talking to people difficult, but how would I cope with global communication? It wasn’t until I gradually got to know these people that I could join in conversations and even start some of my own.
Since joining WordPress, I have really come out of my shell. I love the part of my day when I can talk to our visitors, sharing their lives, hopes, and dreams.
People tell me, “But they’re not real people, it’s the internet…”
But they couldn’t be more wrong,
I can share the lives of lovely people worldwide, and they share mine. From having very few friends, I now have hundreds, and I hope I never get too old to be a blogger; my life would be meaningless…
