What Do I Expect, at My Age?

What do I expect at my age?

I have been told that thinking is a dangerous thing to do at my age.  It is possibly a dangerous thing to do at any age if you think about it, for who knows where it may lead?

I quite like thinking and all the things that trigger it, like books and pictures. What I could do with is a method of keeping these thoughts, as they usually evaporate like so much smoke, never to be seen again. I make notes on everything in the vain hope of remembering all the good stuff, and it works most of the time.

My mind does not feel old, even though it seems to have more holes in it than my favourite cheese, and when I see or read something that stirs my imagination, I am back in my prime, having a sneaky feeling that this is not all there is for me.

Some of the time, I must admit I really don’t want any more, I am too tired to even consider the possibility. Then there are the other days… when you forget just how old and stiff you are. You find it difficult to go to the shops and back.

Or those days when you ignore the sands of time slipping through your fingers and find yourself considering the most amazing possibilities.

Of course, this may be what happens as you get older. I don’t know; I have no experience or knowledge of this, not having done it before.

But if you can think, you can dream. And if you can dream, they say you can do anything.  I hope this is true, for I have a book to finish…

I have to think we all have days better than others, and that’s the time to tackle the things, at your own pace. <3

I haven’t quite accepted this slower pace thing, as I still tear around the house, even though I am getting a little unsteady on my feet. I am trying to pace the workload though… 💖💖

As much as I try to slow down, deep down I know I don’t want to. My own worst enemy?

I don’t think we could give up dreaming even if we tried real hard! Just as well, really…

I know where you’re coming from, Jaye. I often feel I’m going to go on forever, then I think, the next day that everything is just too much.
But I, too, have a book to finish.

I have decided to finish the First draft by the end of the year. A better way to start the new year, I thought…

Surrender, Jaye? Rubbish… you’re far too active. One method of remembering ‘imaginative ideas’ I have found to work is to rapidly associate them with a song that really moves you – in the same way. Doesn’t always work but when it does, you shake your head and smile…

I will have to know if that will work for me, Steve. Thanks for the tip!
