Jason A. Muckley's avatarPoems for Warriors

I take a long look at myself
Staring at the deep creases in my forehead
Bits of gray poking out in my stubble
The hard years have stolen my smile
My pride has been broken to pieces
I am starting over warier this time
The risk is greater on this uneven terrain
Humbled, reflecting on the past missteps
Falling hard leaves a permanent scar
The healing changes my soul
