Rippling Hues ~ #poetry #RDP

Dorinda Duclos's avatarNight Owl Poetry – Dorinda Duclos

The sun continued setting, over the vast plains
As its colors, in rippling hues, softened the sky
A lonely tree, barren, from winter’s approach
Stood watching, while a bird perched, on high

And she began to sing to me, as if on cue
A melancholy tune, a sweet song of lament
Almost like she knew what would happen next
The sun would disappear, as day was now spent

Bathed with hues, of such subtle purple haze
I could see the mountains reach up, in the light
I bowed my head, still watching the colors fade
Blessed, once again, to bear witness to the night
